i-tec USB-C / USB-A 3.0 3x 4K Docking Station + Power Adapter 135W

New

Excellent performance, versatile connection capabilities, and the protection of your investment by supporting both current and future technologies. One of the most powerful docking stations on the market that can convert an average-performing notebook into a top-class workstation with 4K or even up to 5K resolution support. Highly flexible connectivity options can be used for your current technology while opening the way for the future: this docking station can be connected to USB 3.0 ports as well as USB-C and Thunderbolt 3.

Increase efficiency by simply connecting the docking station to your laptop with a single cable. You do not only get access to power (applicable via USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 interfaces; not USB 3.0: it is not technically possible to charge a notebook with a USB 3.0 docking station), but also up to three monitors with 4K resolution, or one with 4K resolution, plus one with 5K. Five USB 3.0 ports and one USB-C port allow you to connect all of your existing favourite accessories. This docking station means you avoid having to constantly connect and disconnect devices every time you travel with your notebook or tablet. In addition, connection via a single cable helps to keep your desktop clean, tidy, and free from cables. A USB-C to USB- C, as well as a USB-C to USB 3.0 adapter are included in the box Drivers are installed automatically from Win 10, while other operating systems require a simple installation (in a multi-laptop environment running Windows 7, 8, or 8.1, a one-time corporate installation is possible).

Whether you work with demanding 2D/3D graphics applications, presentations, work professionally in a web-based environment, or watch videos or movies in the highest possible resolution, this docking station allows you to enjoy faultless resolutions up to 2x 4K 4096×2160@60Hz (2x DisplayPort) and 1x 4K 3840×2160@30Hz (HDMI), or 1x 5K 5120×2880@60Hz (2x DisplayPort) and 1x 4K 3840×2160@30Hz (HDMI). The huge advantage of this advanced docking station is that thanks to the top performing integrated graphics chip, regardless of whether your notebook supports 5K technology (or the integrated graphics card is not designed for high resolution), your functionality will be comparable to much more expensive workstations, with advanced graphics cards. Note: The HDMI port only works when connected via USB-C (docking station connectivity through USB 3.0 ensures the operation of two DisplayPorts, the HDMI port does not).

The docking station also offers audio input/output, a gigabit network card, five USB 3.0 ports (incl. one with Fast Charge BC 1.2 support), one USB-C data port and ON / OFF switch.

Please make sure to check a compatibility of your device, whether it meets all the requirements for an operation of the specific i-tec product, especially video output (Display Port Alt mode), and/or Power Delivery. If your device would not be fully compatible, your new i-tec product may not operate correctly. You may find the specifications your device (i.e. USB port), in a user manual supplied with your notebook/tablet/smartphone, or – alternatively – via customer service provided by a manufacturer of your device. If still uncertain, however, contact our service at support@itecproduct.com.

FAQ

Question: I have updated my MacBook to High Sierra version 10.13.1 and the Mirror mode on my MacBook has stopped working. What should I do?
Answer: This is already discovered issue which causes the DisplayLink driver to malfunction in the latest MacOS due to improper compatibility. Apple has been already asked for debugging. In the meantime, you may use the following workaround procedure: http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1812676-macos-high-sierra-mirror-issues. This will revert the screen settings to Extend instead of Mirror. However, the Mirror mode will not be applicable until a proper debug should be available from Apple.

Question: Display Port doesn’t work after connection to my MacBook even after installation of Display Link drivers.

Answer: After the update of 10.13 (High Sierra), Apple added a safety element that blocks automatic installation of Display Link drivers; to enable correction function, it is necessary to allow an exception for Display Link Corp in the Settings of protection of your MacBook. The detailed manual is here: http://support.displaylink.com/knowledgebase/articles/1188004-macos-high-sierra-video-functionality-not-enabled

Question: May I use Adaptor to transfer signal from HDMI/Display Port port to VGA/DVI Port?
Answer: We do not recommend transferring Digital signal (HDMI/DVI) to Analog (VGA/DVI) due to the technological restrictions of Analog ports (their low data bandwidth), these adaptors might not work correctly.

Question: On my MacBook 13″ / 15″ 2016 and later, wi-fi or Bluetooth stops working; or USB 3.0 devices connected to the docking station disconnect. Where is the problem?

Answer: This problem is caused by interference in the range of 2.4GHz. A possible solution is to connect the docking station to the Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port of the Mac on the left side nearest to you or use the ports on the right side. These ports are situated farthest from the wi-fi antenna. The next solution is the use of the 5GHz zone and the placement of the docking station as far as it could be from the monitor of your Mac. For more information, please refer to https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201163

Question: In Windows, some wireless devices (WLAN dongle or, for example, Microsoft Wireless set 3000/5000), which are connected to the docking station, stop working or irregularly disconnect. Where is the problem?

Answer: Sometimes, USB 3.0 ports are canceled with a 2.4GHz wireless device. The wireless device should be placed outside of the close proximity of USB 3.0 ports and cables. Place the wireless device as far from the USB 3.0 ports and cables as possible. You could use for these purposes, for example, an extension cord for the connection of WLAN dongles or sets.

Question: Is there a limitation for 5K resolution for macOS?

Answer: Some of the displays with the resolution higher than 4K require two Display Port cables for the image transfer in full resolution:

  • Dell UP2715K 5K 27-inch monitor is supported at iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, the end of 2014) or newer and at Mac Pro (the end 2013) with OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 or newer.
  • HP Z27q 5K monitor is supported at iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, the end of 2014) or newer and at Mac Pro (the end of 2013) with macOS Sierra.

Question: After installing Windows 10, the device stopped working. With Windows 7/8 / 8.1, the device worked smoothly.
Answer: Please install the latest drivers. Download drivers from our website www.i-tec-europe.eu in the “Download” tab of this product.

Question: I have a problem with detecting the docking station in my USB-C / USB 3.0 port on my laptop/tablet.
Answer: The problem may be the outdated drivers for the USB-C / USB 3.0 port on your laptop/tablet. Please install the latest USB-C / USB 3.0 chipset drivers in your laptop/tablet.

Question: The LAN port does not work or operates at only 10/100 Mbps.
Answer: Check all wiring between the docking station and the active element and push the RJ-45 connectors. Also, you can replace the Ethernet cable between the docking station and the active network element (HUB, Switch, Router) for a certified one.

Question: Can I get more detailed information about docking station problems?
Answer: Surely, you can find useful information on our website www.i-tec-europe.eu on the “FAQ” tab of this product or on http://www.displaylink.com/support/knowledgebase.php, or contact our technical support: support@itecproduct.com.
